To everyone on my flist: if you leave a comment in a community or a journal that logs IP addresses, your country/city will now be displayed alongside the IP address.

This fuckery is from [livejournal.com profile] lj_releases, which just casually mentioned it at the end of their most recent post:

Users who have enabled Comment IP logging will now also see the Country and City information of the commenter. This information is only visible to the journal owner, community owner/maintainers, or author of the entry if it is posted to a community with this feature enabled (only those who can currently see IP information). This feature is providing the publicly available geo-location associated with the IP address in the same way the "location" feature on our Update page currently functions.

Now, granted, anyone can take your IP address and use any one of the various programs out there to find your country/city, but this is basically handing that information to them on a silver platter. It's really fucking creepy.

Based on some of the comments over at the post, it sounds like the country/city information is applied retroactively to all comments - and, moreover, when community owners opt-out of the IP logging, the changes only apply to new comments; i.e. old comments still have the location listed.

If this bothers you, please go to [livejournal.com profile] lj_releases and leave them a comment. I don't know if the staff reads the responses, but I don't think they're going to change this unless users protest.
You guys!!! I just figured out how to search multiple tags at a time on LiveJournals! idk, maybe this is old news to everyone, but...

If you're, say, a Power Rangers fan looking through my LJ tags, you might be interested in seeing the entries I have under my Power Rangers tag: http://anolinde.livejournal.com/tag/power%20rangers

Or, if you want to read my fanfic, you might be interested in seeing the entries I have under my fanfic tag: http://anolinde.livejournal.com/tag/fanfic

But what if you only want to see the Power Rangers fanfic entries, i.e. fanfic I wrote but then also tagged with "Power Rangers"? The answer would be...

In a move that has made my inner Lord of the Rings fangirl very happy, I've signed up to participate in [livejournal.com profile] themiddleearth! Basically, you join a team (I'm with Gondor ;D) and then compete in different challenges - producing fic, graphics, fanmixes, etc. There are also opportunities to share LOTR-related sites, pictures, and videos, as well as to play games, if you're not creatively inclined. I'm super excited about it!

Sign-ups are here; if you join, let them know I sent you! =)

I haven't been very active on LiveJournal lately... Part of me wants to be more active, the other part of me doesn't really know how to get involved in ways that won't require sacrificing my life. This journal has largely turned into me posting about personal issues, which isn't really something I like to do.

I want to come up with something to make this journal more interesting (including getting a new layout, ugh), but I don't know what! Any ideas, anyone?

Apparently I'm a little late to the party, but there's all this wank going on at [livejournal.com profile] news because LiveJournal was sold to a Russian company.

Is anyone here dissatisfied with LiveJournal's services? I haven't had a single complaint with them in the three years I've been on this site (soon to be four), but it sounds like I'm in the minority.

What, again, was the big deal with Six Apart?

Just to let everyone know, I'm probably going to be making this journal friends-only as soon as I have enough time to make a new layout. (It's going to be of Jared Leto!) Chances are, I'll leave my old entries unlocked, but after that everything will be friends-only.

Cut for me rambling about my life )

Anyway... flist, what's up with you?

I'm thinking about making my journal friends-only. (Thinking, which may or may not result in following through.)

To those of you who do have a friends-only journal, what are the benefits of keeping all your posts locked, and are there any disadvantages?

Any/all input greatly appreciated, thanks!

I just spent about three hours moving all of my photos from ImageShack to PhotoBucket. Earlier today, I spent five hours finishing my layout. Now, I'm about to go and delete every single entry from [livejournal.com profile] washed_away_art, and I don't even want to think about how many there are.

*whimpers* Why can't these things ever be easy?

ETA: And to top it all off, I just posted this to [livejournal.com profile] hiril_alatariel instead of here. *facepalm*

New layout!

[livejournal.com profile] anolinde

*does the new layout dance*

Okay, so, since I did this for [livejournal.com profile] the_lj_reboot, we're supposed to talk a little about the design process that went behind the making of the layout. I'll describe it as well as I can remember, because I made this layout back in October or November.

Without further ado... )

So, yeah, that's basically what happened with my layout. =) I'm very happy with it, except now I'll have to get used to having the sidebar on the left as opposed to the right. To everyone who's never contemplated joining [livejournal.com profile] the_lj_reboot, I would highly recommend it, because they have a ton of tips about CSS and it's really easy to follow along!

What do you guys think?

Thank God it's the weekend.

I haven't updated this journal for so long. I've been frigging busy.

Anyway, today I came home from school because I had a wicked bad stomachache... as in, doubling-over-in-agony kind. And I was twitching/shaking uncontrollably, and my legs were tingling. This apparently has something to do with my back, and is supposed to be a bad thing. =/

As for my back, I just had a CAT scan done, which pretty much determines whether or not I'm having surgery, because if it hasn't healed at this point we're seeing a surgeon. I should have the results on Monday! Personally, I'm kind of hoping that I'll go in for surgery, because even though I'll be out for awhile, I feel like I'll have a better chance of being able to do the gymnastics I want to do, rather than letting it heal on its own and maybe not doing so fully.

On another note, my LiveJournal may look really pink right now. Not may, it does. I'm going to try and combine this style with [livejournal.com profile] lanie__rose's to get a cool new one for [livejournal.com profile] the_lj_reboot; hopefully all will go well, and I'll be able to renew my paid account before February! *prays*

Well, that's all for now. Ta-ta!

I cannot believe I just said ta-ta.

P.S. EKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Vox

( Aug. 10th, 2006 11:19 am)
Does anyone have any Vox invites they'd be willing to send me? I'm kind of curious about it. =)

Thanks!

P.S. AP American History studying over the summer = NOT FUN.

P.P.S. Thank you so much LiveJournal, for sending me all of my comments. [/sarcasm]
