Someone asked me over at ONTD why I wasn't a fan of Beren and Luthien, and I thought I'd save my response over here because, well, just typing it up made me annoyed, lol. I can't be the only one who thinks Beren/Luthien are the ultimate Gary Stu/Mary Sue combo, right?

Cut for ~spoilers~ )

Also, on a somewhat related note, AO3 has pretty much ruined my life. So many fandoms, so many pairings... In the past month alone I've checked out the LOTR, Game of Thrones, Hawaii Five-0, and Alexander sections, lol. I should really start posting my own stuff there.
We'll just ignore the fact that I'm failing at the 30 days of Power Rangers thing.

Okay, so, this was something I meant to talk about last time and then forgot: damn, the Wild Force Rangers were weak! It seemed like every episode they got their asses kicked, then had to pull something out of said asses in order to save the day. Not to mention, they demorphed and/or got kicked out of their Wild Zords all the time! Not that demorphing never happened in other seasons, but it felt like it was occurring way more frequently in Wild Force (especially the whole getting kicked out of the Zords thing).

Um... Toxica and Jindrax are the cutest things ever. Especially Jindrax. ♥ I love how Toxica was always scheming against the master Orgs! I'm glad they didn't get destroyed in the end.

Speaking of cute, Shayla and Merrick? Shipping so hard. Merrick was a terrible actor, unfortunately (not that Shayla was really any better), but they were so adorable together! That said, I'm not sure if I bought Shayla's temper tantrum when she thought Merrick didn't like performing for the deer zord... it was totally out of character. Oh well. One point of confusion: is Shayla human? She looks human, but she told Merrick that he had to stay on Earth because he was human. (WHAT NO STAY AND HAVE BABIES.)

...Okay, guys, I have to confess: I didn't think the deer song was awful. It was, um, interesting, but the flute playing was nice! And Merrick was involved, so, yeah.

So called the kid being Animus. But omg they killed a kid! Damn. That's almost as bad as Kendrix's death on Lost Galaxy.

TIME FORCE TEAMUP OMG OMG OMG. Um, YES to Eric and Taylor. That was fucking PERFECT. They were so cute together! I loved that scene at the end where Eric took the book out of her hands and they were bantering over it. Also, his comment about the Q-Rex being better than the Eagle Zord was totally phallic, but totally Eric. I would have liked some follow-up... but I guess the actors were only available for so many episodes.

Thought the back-and-forth about Orgs vs. mutants was unnecessary. Also, I didn't understand why the mutant-Orgs sometimes spoke gibberish, and other times spoke English? However, it was nice to get some back story on how Ransik got those bone weapons.

Jen is a total bamf. End of story. But we didn't get a kiss from her and Wes! Show, I am disappoint.

(On a side note: my roommate was watching the team-up with me, and when the Time Force Rangers started appearing, she was like, "Good! Teach these guys [the Wild Force Rangers] how to act!" Hee.)

Forever Red: Eh. The morphing scene with the explosions was awesome, and the fight was pretty good, but I was really confused by how they paired the Red Rangers up. Like, I sort of got Cole and Jason together (rookie and the original), but Eric and Aurico? Andros and Carter? Wes and Tommy? TJ and Leo? I just... meh. It should have been Tommy/Jason, TJ/Andros, Leo/Carter, Wes/Eric, and Cole/Aurico. (Or Tommy/Jason/Aurico, TJ/Andros, Leo/Carter, and Wes/Eric/Cole.) Also, the episode went majorly downhill when Cole got on his flying motorcycle thing to blow up Serpenterra all by himself. Plus, SPACE DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY. Not that Power Rangers has ever cared that much about science, but jeez... Finally, my love for this episode was sort of dimmed when I found out that, originally, Katherine was supposed to make an appearance as Tommy's wife. Aw, HALE NO.

So, now onto Ninja Storm. I've literally never seen a single episode of the season, so I'm excited and unspoiled!
I'm only about fifteen episodes into the season, butomgihavefeelings.

First of all, the pilot episode. Dear God, the pilot episode. A vivid reminder of why I stopped watching Power Rangers after this season. Ridiculously problematic origin story for Cole aside, I cannot fucking stand him. Which is a problem, because he's the Red Ranger and basically every episode is secretly about him. He's a terrible actor, first of all. And that whole thing about he ~talks to the Lion zord~ and can ~see people's hearts~ is so eyeroll-worthy (kind of like with Maya, back in Lost Galaxy).

Also, why haven't the Rangers named their zords...? Every time they're like, "NOOOOOOOOOOOO, RED LION etc," it just doesn't have the same impact because it sounds so impersonal.

Taylor and Alyssa kick so much ass, though, and I pretty much have a lesbian crush on Alyssa. She's so cute! And she has amazing legs, hot damn am I jealous. That said, it really irritates me how Taylor automatically defaults to Cole as the leader. Ugh. I would have liked a more Wes/Jen approach (minus the shipping, of course), but what can you do.

I have mixed feelings about Shayla. She's a pretty bad actress, but her character is kind of adorable. The show's been dropping some hints about Shayla/Merrick, which is uber-cute. As for her as a mentor... she seems pretty damn useless. Like, can she actually fight? I hope she can, but that episode where she was kidnapped by Zen-Aku was pretty painful. Like, you just stand there when he lets go of you, and you don't run or anything? Okay, w/e.

Going back to the zords... omg, I love them. Disney, you win this round. I love how the Megazord does that roar thing with his face. Also, the different zords are so awesome! Elephant and giraffe zord ftw. I really hope there's a penguin zord somewhere.

Still waiting for omgthetimeforceteamup.

Okay, back to watching Merrick test out his new Ranger powers. But how does he know how to use a cellphone...?

ETA: WHAT THE HELL, he plays POOL to access his powers? Seriously, show?

Just finished watching Time Force! I'm kind of sad that I finished it so soon, because I love that season to death and the cast is so fun to watch. Also, Eric and Wes have really, really nice arms.

Loved, loved, loved the episode where Nadira and Lucas went on a date. Ransik's reaction was hilarious.

The Lightspeed teamup was awesome, but I was so pissed when all the guys stood together with their battle armor at the end and got rid of the monster. Give the girls some battle armor, too, damnit! It brought back memories of how pissed I was when Ms. Fairweather decided to give someone other than Carter nifty armor, and then promptly gave it to Chad and Joel and ignored Dana and Kelsey. Ugh. On another note, the teamup should definitely have been given more than one episode. It was way too rushed. And how the hell did Vypra come back when she had been absorbed by Queen Bansheera? Loved the appearance of the Vyprari, though. =D

Finally, Wes and Jen... after Tommy and Kimberly, definitely my favorite Power Rangers couple. Their relationship actually got development! And they led the team together! And they rescued each other (even if it was 60% Wes rescuing Jen and only 40% Jen rescuing Wes)!

Fun fact: When I watched this as it was airing, back when I was in elementary school, I never figured out that Wes and Alex were played by the same actor.

Blah, now to suffer my way through Wild Force... Taylor, I'm counting on you to not make this miserable for me. (And omgsqueeTimeForceteamup!!!)
