Just some rl rambling )

Anyway, Christmas Eve/Christmas was quite good! My grandma came up and we basically just hung around the house. On Christmas, we made like the Jews and watched The Help (great performances from all of the actors involved!) and went out for Chinese food. I got a really nice Vera Bradley tote, the Fast Five extended edition (!!), and a couple of books/CDs.

I think I started this entry wanting to talk about something else, but I can't remember what it was. =(

So, it's finally 2009! Couldn't come soon enough, in my opinion. 2008 was a sucky year for many reasons I don't want to dwell on, but here's one good thing that happened:

I got into college!

I sent out Early Action applications (the non-binding kind) to Boston College, Georgetown University, and the University of Notre Dame. Out of these, I got into BC and Notre Dame. I didn't get rejected at Georgetown, though - just deferred, which is definitely better than nothing. =)

I haven't decided where I want to go yet. I'm still waiting to hear from nine other schools in April (including Georgetown), so once I get the letters from them I'll figure out what I'm going to do. Getting into BC and Notre Dame is a huge relief, though - they're both good schools, and I loved BC when I went to visit. I'm really hoping that I'll get into at least some of the other colleges I applied to, because there are some Ivy Leagues scattered in there, but if I don't I always have a place to go. =D

I don't really have an official New Year's resolution, per say, but I'd like to drop ten pounds - I'm up to 130, and my legs could definitely use some slimming down. My dream weight is 110, but I'll be thrilled if I can go back down to 120. I'm going to try to go to the gym more often (which has the additional bonus of enabling me to watch hot guys work out) and eat healthier, the latter of which I desperately need to do. Other than that, I'd also really like to enjoy this year. =)

I hope everyone has been having a great holiday season!

Happy New Year!

The main highlight of 2007 was breaking up with Bob and returning to my sports: gymnastics in January, and karate in September.

Another highlight was getting my own computer (which I promptly named Lucius), and discovering Amazon.Com. Why, yes, I am behind.

I found two new fandoms: Alexander and Gossip Girl (the TV series). This is the first year I've ever watched more than one show (the other being LOST).

Finally, I started working on a new story in my original one true fandom! Le gasp, it's not LOTR. I've actually been formulating this story ever since I was five, no joke, and now I've actually started writing it. So, that's exciting. =)

I'm not big on New Year's resolutions, but does anyone have any they want to share?

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

So, flist, what are you doing to celebrate?

To those of you who celebrate it...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Today will be spent making pretzels for the meal (hardly conventional, I know, but it was either that or breadsticks, which I've already tried before and... well, let's just say it was neither pretty nor tasty), and then waiting for my cousins to come over. There may possibly be a viewing of Alexander (the sexy, final revision version), depending on how often my younger cousins decide to wander into the room. I somehow doubt we'll be able to watch the movie, because they do tend to hunt us down, but oh well. =)

So, flist, what are ya'll doing today?

And yes, I did just say ya'll.

So, apparently in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a Boy Scout troop was kicked out of a plaza for trying to collect supplies to send to soldiers in Iraq. People apparently complained that they were advertising a political, pro-war agenda.

I find this totally offensive and inappropriate, am I the only one?

Random fortune cookie story of the day: Last night at around 10:00 PM, I was totally stalling on my history essay. I had two paragraphs to go, but I couldn't focus. The subject was utterly boring, so I kept procrastinating, getting about one sentence every five minutes (and that may be stretching it). Finally, I got really frustrated and went downstairs to clean the dishes, because I had also procrastinated on that. We had had Chinese food that night, so I picked out a fortune cookie, which read:

Do your best to make it happen.

I went back upstairs and finished that sucker in twenty minutes.

In other news, my mom is now getting up in my grill about gymnastics. (Yes, I did have to say that.) Recently my back has been hurting during floor, which is directly connected to the impact from tumbling. I've scheduled an appointment with my doctor to see about getting an athletic back brace for that event, but now my mom's talking about me retiring from gymnastics and she's going on and on about how I shouldn't be looking at colleges that have gymnastics teams because who knows if I'll be doing gymnastics by then, and why not do dance or cheerleading instead?

Aside from the fact that I'd rather kill myself than do cheerleading, and that I'm only going to turn to dance when my body's too broken to do gymnastics, her attitude was irritating because she was implying that she was going to put pressure on my doctor to keep me from doing gymnastics. *facepalm* It is totally not the end of the world if I want a back brace to make floor easier.

She was also complaining about how I can't walk without Bob (my current back brace), which is total bull because I only need him when I'm walking around malls for hours at a time. I don't have a lot of muscle in my back, so it gets sore if I don't sit down and rest. Understandable, if regrettable.

Argh, major frustration.

Good things that are happening in my life right now: Tomorrow I have a free block and a full lunch, which essentially comes down to two and a half hours of free time and only four classes, none of which involve science. =D Oh, and btw, I only have science once this week, due to the Thanksgiving scheduling!

My Wednesday is scheduled to be full of awesome, too. We have three blocks, none of which are my math, science, or Spanish. Instead, I have English (okay), history (score!), and gym, which I'm actually liking this quarter. Then we have an actual half day, as opposed to a five-sixths day, and we get out at 11:03, which means I have time to go home and eat lunch and chill before work! I then go to gymnastics and after that Olive Garden, woot!

Oh, and you know what's the best part about all of this? I don't have to get up early on Thursday!

Thanksgiving should be good, my cousin and I are planning on watching the director's cut of Alexander (at least, I think), and I'm making yummy pretzels. Then on Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] llamallicious is coming over (assuming nothing suddenly comes up) and we're going to be having a childhood TV show marathon (ya'll know which show I'm talking about...), not to mention making a chocolate fountain, which should be delicious! =D

So, a fun weekend is coming up!

P.S. If anyone's interested, I quit Dance Troupe for this semester, because I hated going to the practices and it was making my back really sore. Now I have Sundays free, yay!

So, flist, what's up with you?

Today was not a great start to the month. I pretty much bombed a math test, and I got my first word wrong on a Latin vocab quiz. Yeah, I know, end of the world (especially since I'm still getting a 100, because I got the extra credit), and a bazillion people will be like, "blah blah blah you don't have the right to complain," but the point is it was an easy quiz and I should have been more prepared for it.

Then there was some other crap that happened, but I don't really want to go into it right now. Suffice to say that, overall, the day was not a success. However, I did have some really good food (chocolate chip muffin for breakfast, stir fry/bread dipped in a yummeh cheese sauce for lunch, and I'm going to have a turkey burger for dinner), so that kind of makes everything better.

This weekend, I'm hoping to get everyone's Christmas presents... which may mean that some shopping will be in order. Or, at the very least, I want to go see a movie. The Nativity Story looks good, as well as Marie Antoinette. Anyone free? I really want to do something other than studying for a gazillion tests, lol.

Well, that's all for now... *is mysterious*

To everyone who celebrates it...

Happy Thanksgiving!

My older cousins are coming over today, woot! The younger ones ended up having Thanksgiving at another house, so we don't have to babysit them at all. ^__^ Don't get me wrong; they're adorable and all, but man, they're a handful.

Ooh, and my mom's making this amazing broccoli and cheese dish ([livejournal.com profile] lanie__rose knows what I'm talking about), and I absolutely can't wait to eat it. Yum.

So, everyone, enjoy your day!

P.S. Just out of curiosity, what do you guys eat on Thanksgiving, and what time do you normally eat at?

So, a couple of other people on LiveJournal are doing this ([livejournal.com profile] paradise_loved)... I will, too! I think you're supposed to put ten things down, so that's what I'll do.

Anyway, the "rules" are that it can be anything, whether it's something ridiculously expensive or something that can be handmade.

10. Eowyn/Eomer/Theodred fanfiction. I will seriously have your babies if you write this for me. Rated R or up, please. =D This can be Eowyn/Eomer/Theodred, Eowyn/Eomer, Eowyn/Theodred, or Eomer/Theodred. It can be really disturbing (i.e. non-con, whatever).

9. Dramione fanfiction. Again, preferably R+. No Ho!mione, please. =)

8. Peter/Susan fanfiction. R+, again. *is teh naughty* It can be in Narnia, the outside world, or the wardrobe... *cough*

7. Eomer.

6. Recommendations.
Any good books you've read, music you'd like to upload, fanfiction I need to read... anything!

5. A renewal of my paid account. I've had it for a year, and I'm definitely interested in keeping it! If you actually do get this, I might not be able to do the same, but I'll definitely make icons/upload music/write fanfic/whatever.

4. Sawyer.

3. Chocolate!
I love Hershey's and Lindt. I will worship you or something to that effect if you get me chocolate. Yummeh...

2. CDs! Or just money for CDs. Every penny counts! ;)

1. A link to your list! Let me know what you want, and I'll see what I can do!

P.S. *points to icon*
