So, apparently in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a Boy Scout troop was kicked out of a plaza for trying to collect supplies to send to soldiers in Iraq. People apparently complained that they were advertising a political, pro-war agenda.

I find this totally offensive and inappropriate, am I the only one?

Random fortune cookie story of the day: Last night at around 10:00 PM, I was totally stalling on my history essay. I had two paragraphs to go, but I couldn't focus. The subject was utterly boring, so I kept procrastinating, getting about one sentence every five minutes (and that may be stretching it). Finally, I got really frustrated and went downstairs to clean the dishes, because I had also procrastinated on that. We had had Chinese food that night, so I picked out a fortune cookie, which read:

Do your best to make it happen.

I went back upstairs and finished that sucker in twenty minutes.

In other news, my mom is now getting up in my grill about gymnastics. (Yes, I did have to say that.) Recently my back has been hurting during floor, which is directly connected to the impact from tumbling. I've scheduled an appointment with my doctor to see about getting an athletic back brace for that event, but now my mom's talking about me retiring from gymnastics and she's going on and on about how I shouldn't be looking at colleges that have gymnastics teams because who knows if I'll be doing gymnastics by then, and why not do dance or cheerleading instead?

Aside from the fact that I'd rather kill myself than do cheerleading, and that I'm only going to turn to dance when my body's too broken to do gymnastics, her attitude was irritating because she was implying that she was going to put pressure on my doctor to keep me from doing gymnastics. *facepalm* It is totally not the end of the world if I want a back brace to make floor easier.

She was also complaining about how I can't walk without Bob (my current back brace), which is total bull because I only need him when I'm walking around malls for hours at a time. I don't have a lot of muscle in my back, so it gets sore if I don't sit down and rest. Understandable, if regrettable.

Argh, major frustration.

Good things that are happening in my life right now: Tomorrow I have a free block and a full lunch, which essentially comes down to two and a half hours of free time and only four classes, none of which involve science. =D Oh, and btw, I only have science once this week, due to the Thanksgiving scheduling!

My Wednesday is scheduled to be full of awesome, too. We have three blocks, none of which are my math, science, or Spanish. Instead, I have English (okay), history (score!), and gym, which I'm actually liking this quarter. Then we have an actual half day, as opposed to a five-sixths day, and we get out at 11:03, which means I have time to go home and eat lunch and chill before work! I then go to gymnastics and after that Olive Garden, woot!

Oh, and you know what's the best part about all of this? I don't have to get up early on Thursday!

Thanksgiving should be good, my cousin and I are planning on watching the director's cut of Alexander (at least, I think), and I'm making yummy pretzels. Then on Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] llamallicious is coming over (assuming nothing suddenly comes up) and we're going to be having a childhood TV show marathon (ya'll know which show I'm talking about...), not to mention making a chocolate fountain, which should be delicious! =D

So, a fun weekend is coming up!

P.S. If anyone's interested, I quit Dance Troupe for this semester, because I hated going to the practices and it was making my back really sore. Now I have Sundays free, yay!

So, flist, what's up with you?

Howdy, ya'll. Haven't updated for awhile. But I have some exciting news about my back! =D

I'm breaking up with Bob! )

Thank God it's the weekend.

I haven't updated this journal for so long. I've been frigging busy.

Anyway, today I came home from school because I had a wicked bad stomachache... as in, doubling-over-in-agony kind. And I was twitching/shaking uncontrollably, and my legs were tingling. This apparently has something to do with my back, and is supposed to be a bad thing. =/

As for my back, I just had a CAT scan done, which pretty much determines whether or not I'm having surgery, because if it hasn't healed at this point we're seeing a surgeon. I should have the results on Monday! Personally, I'm kind of hoping that I'll go in for surgery, because even though I'll be out for awhile, I feel like I'll have a better chance of being able to do the gymnastics I want to do, rather than letting it heal on its own and maybe not doing so fully.

On another note, my LiveJournal may look really pink right now. Not may, it does. I'm going to try and combine this style with [livejournal.com profile] lanie__rose's to get a cool new one for [livejournal.com profile] the_lj_reboot; hopefully all will go well, and I'll be able to renew my paid account before February! *prays*

Well, that's all for now. Ta-ta!

I cannot believe I just said ta-ta.

P.S. EKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Well, I just had a conversation with my parents about my back. We're going in for a doctor's appointment on Thursday (which means I miss the first half of school, meh) to basically decide whether or not to start looking into surgery. To make a long story short, both my parents and my physical therapist think there's a 99% chance of me having surgery.

This is mainly because my back has not even begun healing, and it's been four months since I've been in Bob, my lovely little back brace. Four months, as it turns out, is the average time it takes to completely heal. So, clearly I'm not getting any better. Also, I'm not supposed to be walking around with two fractures in my back, because there's a possibility of the spine slipping. If the spine slips, then it pushes into my nerves, and I could potentially become paralyzed.

So, my dad told me not to count on doing gymnastics until at least this time next year, which totally and completely sucks. Furthermore, if I do need surgery, then my mom's hoping to confirm it or even schedule it by Christmas, which would totally get me in the holiday mood. Not.

The surgery itself isn't complicated (at least, I don't think)--the affected area is below my spinal chord, which means that there's hardly any risk of something going wrong and me not being able to walk again. However, apparently the recovery time is long, and I could be laid up for several weeks, if not months.

All of this isn't definite, however--it's simply what my parents and physical therapist have told me is likely to happen, given the fact that I'm not healing.

*le sigh* I suppose it could be worse.

Good news on the back front! (Hehe, oxymoron--couldn't resist.)

So, my doctor called today with results from the cat scan. As it turns out, I do have a second stress fracture, and it is covered with scar tissue. This means I have to wear Bob (my back brace) for three months, as opposed to six-eight weeks.

Now, this does not sound good at all, especially since in three months I'll be on a plane to Hawaii. However, my doctor said that I can go back to doing karate, as long as I wear Bob. Furthermore, my mom is planning on discussing the situation with my dad, and if all goes well I'll be able to return to gymnastics after June. I'd be wearing the brace, of course, so I wouldn't be able to do about 90% of the stuff I normally do, but I'm still pumped! =DDD

Plus, I just discovered I can still do a split in my brace. ^___^

So, I got a back brace awhile ago. It's like a frigging corset. *tries to breathe* Not to mention that it gives me stomachaches whenever I eat in it.

Aside from that, it's actually not too restricting; I managed to do a handstand and a cartwheel in it. ^_^ (Hehe, don't tell my parents!)

Oh, and it's also known as "The Bob." (I think it stands for something Orthopaedic Brace.)

I have to wear it twenty hours a day, unfortunately. >_<

*sighs and waits six more weeks*
