I was actually going to post this as a comment to second_batgirl's entry, but it wound up becoming really bitter and I decided I'd rather spare her. =P

Warning: if you ship Skull/Kim (this isn't the spoiler, btw), this entry is probably not for you.

So, apparently Bulk is going to be in Power Rangers Samurai, along with a mini-Skull who refers to him as "uncle." Although the timeline wouldn't really work out unless Skull had a kid right after he left the show, given the show's continuity issues the kid is very likely Skull's anyway. In second_batgirl's entry, some people were speculating that the kid is Skull and Kim's.

Ugh, seriously?

First of all, I'm so done with Bulk and Skull. They took up way too much time during MMPR and (apparently I'm in the minority on this) I didn't find them remotely funny. They started out as obnoxious bullies and finished as obnoxious idiots. Even their rare redeeming moments weren't enough to make up for the fact that they were horrifically annoying characters and should never have gotten as much screen time as they did.

Second of all, if it turns out that Skull Jr. (who is actually kind of amusing in the preview, although his schtick might get old fast) is Skull and Kimberly's child - since the writers were, after all, apparently toying with the idea of announcing that the two had gotten married in "Forever Red" - I'm actually going to scream. How the fuck would it ever be okay for them to get together after Skull sexually harassed her throughout the first (and I believe the second) season of MMPR? Seriously, what the hell. It really, really bothers me when people ship them. Who fucking cares if he matured? "Oh, but that sexual harassment thing was so long ago, no big deal!!! Skull deserves Kimberly now." Ugh, fuck that shit. Fuck. That. Shit.

ETA: Just to clarify, this is not intended to be directed at second_batgirl or any specific person commenting on the entry. (The "Ugh, seriously?" was a reaction to the possibility of the show doing this, not to the people who were speculating about it.) It's simply my frustration with Skull/Kim shippers in general - again, not with anyone specific - as well as the fact that the writers of the show seem to be amenable to the idea of them winding up together.

I don't mind Bulk being back but this show is relying way to much on the original series. The inclusion of Spike aka Skull Jr is kind of annoying me. Maybe I'll warm to the idea later on.

In no way do I want that to be Skull and Kimberly's son. That was an idea that just seems so dumb. I liked that in the "Potion Notion" they became friends and that he moved on in Zeo.

We all know Skull and Kimberly were thrown together because they also wanted Katherine back to pick Tommy up as his wife, oh and Rocky as his butler. All bad ideas. Rocky belonged their as the red ninja ranger and Kat wasn't needed, the majority of fans really didn't love them that much as a couple and I'm sure people would have rather saw Ashley for Andros or even Kendrix for Leo.

There definitely is way too much "Hey! Remember the original, AWESOME Power Rangers? Well, you should totally watch this one because it has the same theme!" going on. Hopefully it's just the advertising, and not going to actually be such a huge aspect of the new series. It'd be one thing if they brought back all the original Rangers or something like that (O.O), but otherwise it's totally unnecessary.

Haha, the more I think about Skull/Kim the angrier I get. Livid, actually. I honestly don't know how anyone can ship them. (I feel like a lot of it is anti-Tommy/Kim, too, which is like... okay, you wanted a "better" relationship for Kim and you picked the guy who sexually harassed her throughout high school? Fuck off.)

Ugh... if there's one thing that annoys me as much as Tommy/Kat, it's the idea of Rocky as Tommy's butler. Seriously, what are the writers on this show thinking? They must be on really, really bad crack. (But aw, it would have been so cute to see Kendrix there for Leo!)

Hey, no worries. =) Honestly, I felt like a bit of a jackass making this post in the first place - I was worried it would come across as me bitching at you, and I hope it didn't! My Skull/Kim issues are over a decade old, haha, and I just needed to rant at the possibility of them being confirmed as canon. No hard feelings about your first reply! =)

So glad they axed the Rocky as a butler idea. Maybe he was just role-playing. Tommy as a rich guy would have been just... ugh.

Butler!Rocky makes me so furious. I can't articulate it in a way that doesn't end up sounding dismissive to people who choose the service industry, but my point is, Rocky had dreams of his own. Why is he not off running a dojo with Adam or something? Or teaching high school! Or being a social worker!

Roleplaying I am totally ok with. (And I ignore the Tommy owning the club thing. Bulk totally does. I really hope they reference that in Samurai.)

So, yeah, Rocky was totally roleplaying. *now envisioning fic where the Red Rangers walk in just as Rocky's gotten into his butler costume. Rocky doesn't bother to correct the newer Rangers' assumption that he's the butler, and in fact finds it hilarious that Tommy's sweating so much and very obviously needs a cold shower. Then Jason walks in, totally knows what's going on, and can't stop smirking throughout the entire meeting. The other Rangers (except for maybe TJ, who thinks that something's off but can't put his finger on it) are totally clueless.* ...Oh shit, I kind of have to write this now.

Looking at shows like Melrose Place and 90210 when they first came on all they did was bring back the old cast. It wasn't "new". With Paulie, Ricardo and now I hear they want to contact Blake? To much of the old cast into the new show looks desperate.

I wouldn't mind seeing Blake back maybe next year or the one after that as a new red ranger but having him in Samurai is silly.

They aren't going to recreate the power ranger hype that was in 93. Times are just to different.

I'm kind of taken aback by the number of guest appearances that are rumored to be happening this season (especially with what's happening with this year's Sentai season in Japan)... it's like Saban took the helm and just RAN with it xD

On one hand, I love how a lot of this is very old-school.
On the other hand... it's like a redo, and it's kind of painful.

What other guest appearances are rumored to be happening? This is the first I've heard of them, but I'm intrigued! Guest appearances can be good. =) When you talk about the current Sentai, are you referring to the season where the Rangers can morph into past Rangers' costumes? (I don't really know much about Sentai, so eep.)

Agreed re: the redo... I can see why they're doing it from a marketing standpoint, but it kind of makes me worried that the new season's going to suck. The previews they've had so far aren't very promising, either. =(

Re: PR:S, I've actually been really excited for this season due to the previews, but mainly because I'm so sold on the cheese-factor (and the old-school music. Does that make me really nerdy that I'm so thrilled about the music?) of old-school. Actually *blush* I've watched the MMPR seasons (up through Kim leaving) and Dino Thunder. I'm kind of jumping all over now, trying to get through In Space but it's kind of killing me (Whyyyyy isn't Andros as awesome in the show as he is in fic?!) - Time Force is next on my "to watch" list.

Oh man, haha, you've got some catching up to do! In Space is pretty damn awesome though, even if fandom does tend to make Andros cooler than he actually is on the show. (TJ's really hot, though, so maybe that makes up for Andros not having enough badass moments?) Have you gotten to the Psycho arc yet?

Time Force is amazing! It's one of my favorite seasons. In fact, maybe it is my favorite season. Also, beware: the acting is actually... *gasp* decent.

LOL! Well I'll probably not be watching Zeo (except for a few episodes second_batgirl has listed for me to experience the Adam/Tanya love) and I've been advised to skip Turbo. So right now, the next seasons to watch are Time Force, SPD and Ninja Storm.

Andros just angsts so damn much... and I say this as somebody who is writing one of the angstiest things ever. TJ is pretty darn hot, though... I could stare at him for a looooong time. And Carlos is pretty (so long as he stays quiet, LOL). But Andros makes Tommy look like he could skip around singing songs from musicals.

I haven't gotten to the Psycho arc yet, but I'm really excited to! That arc and Astronema are the only things keeping me with the season, LOL
