Just finished Operation Overdrive. Honestly, I haven't had this much fun with a Power Rangers season since... well, not for awhile. I've heard mostly bad things about this season, so I wasn't expecting much, but I can safely say that it's up there on my list of favorites.

Mack had a lot to do with this. Finally, a story arc that's done RIGHT. Without having seen Jungle Fury or RPM, I'd say it's the best story arc yet on Power Rangers. He didn't get over discovering that he was a robot in one episode! He kept brooding about it! There were consequences! His relationship with Andrew was strained! In short, we need more arcs like this on Power Rangers. This is quality angst here, folks. Screw Tommy.

Also, Mack in general is just adorable and squishy, so even without the arc I adored him.

I enjoyed Tyzonn as a sixth Ranger. At first I thought they were going to set him up with Ronny, then I thought he was going after Rose - so I was really surprised when they introduced Vella. Didn't really care so much about her, but Tyzonn was fun to watch and his turn as a villain was interesting.

Definitely grew to like Will - a lot, in fact! I think he matured the most out of the Rangers, and it really started to show in the last few episodes. He was taking on more risks and overcoming greater obstacles, and in general kicking serious ass.

Rose, Ronny, and Dax didn't get as much character development, but they were all good characters.

Miratrix was so annoying. First of all, she was ugly as fuck. (Yes, I'm shallow like that.) Second of all, the actress who played her was terrible. Third of all, she was ridiculously incompetent. I still don't really get her relationship with Kamdor.

Loved Norg, haha. Finally, comic relief that's actually funny. *still resents Bulk and Skull for getting as much screen time as they did*

The Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger teamup was pretty awesome! I felt like I was getting musical whiplash, though, from all the times they kept switching the theme songs. That said, it was awesome to hear the SPD theme song again. It's a pity they couldn't get the Mighty Morphin theme, because that would have made everything even more kickass. Only problem is - if the Sentinel Knight could revive the former Rangers' powers, why couldn't he just revive the Overdrive team's powers...? Overall, it definitely wasn't my favorite teamup, but it's probably third after the Wild Force/Lost Galaxy ones. Maybe tied with Forever Red?

The battleship Megazord was fucking pimp.

The final battle at the end of the series was way too easy. Maybe it's because I'm used to two- or three-parter finales, but I kept waiting for one of the villains to come back or for the Rangers to start getting their asses kicked. The only time it felt like they were in danger was when Flurious invaded Andrew's home, but otherwise there was no threat. Also, they never really explained where Vella came from, so, um... talk about dropping the ball on that one.

Overall, one of the things I liked about this season was that, because they were always working towards finding the jewels, there were very few - if any - filler episodes. It seemed like every episode, they found another clue or somehow got closer to obtaining the jewels. Even the trope episodes (i.e. "Ranger X needs to learn teamwork," "Ranger Y needs to learn how to have fun") were tied into the hunt for the jewels. The only time where this got annoying was when the bad guys were constantly arriving just as the Rangers found an artifact, then stealing said artifact, and then there would be a battle until the Rangers eventually won it back. Got a bit formulaic after awhile, but otherwise it was pretty engaging.

Finally... I have to admit, the theme song grew on me. Still don't understand what the "five heroes walking through the sun for five days" line means, though. Thoughts?

Onto Jungle Fury soon! I've seen a few episodes already and really liked it, so hopefully the rest of the series will be just as good!

I've always been fascinated with Jungle Fury and I still replay episodes in my head. xD

I think Operation Overdrive had some great moments and the premise was unique and fun. It will never be a favorite of mine but it had some great moments.

Wow, you're like one of a few people I talked to who actually liked the season! LOL. I personally didn't really like it that much; just saw a couple of episodes. But maybe it's because I totally loved Boukenger, which for me was probably one of the best Sentai ever.

Can't wait to hear your opinion about JF! Happy holidays.

Haha, I know! I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed it, given that most of the fandom seems to hate it. Then again, Lightspeed Rescue was one of my favorite seasons. =P I haven't seen the original Sentai, though.

Happy holidays! =)
