FORMAT: Movie
TITLE: The Bourne Ultimatum
ACTORS: Matt Damon, Joan Allen, Julia Stiles

01. It was a little jarring to have the focus of Bourne's past suddenly shift onto Operation Black Brier, but according to IMDb it was originally introduced in The Bourne Identity. Even so, Operation Black Brier was far more simpler than Treadstone, which made the movie as a whole a lot easier to understand. There weren't so many people whose allegiances you were unsure of (or just plain couldn't remember), there was only one goal, and the plot was nowhere near as complicated.

02. That said, the "dumbing down" of the movie wasn't really a disappointment, because it left a lot more time for us to enjoy Matt Damon totally kicking ass as Jason Bourne. It got to the point where you just know that he's better than everyone else, and unlike the James Bond movies it never seems unrealistic. The best part about it is, he's not using these crazy weapons or gadgets - it's only his hands and a fair share of cleverness (like the scene where he wraps his hands in laundry, and you have no idea what he's doing until he vaults over all the glass) that makes the movie incredibly entertaining to watch.

03. I liked how the opening scene was what exactly happened after Bourne escaped the car crash in The Bourne Supremacy, and how it was eventually revealed that the closing scene to The Bourne Supremacy was actually something that occurred more towards the middle of The Bourne Ultimatum. It added a touch of realism to the movie, because obviously he wouldn't be able to walk away from a scene like that without getting hounded by the police.

04. I'd just like to mention how awesome it was that, during the New York car chase scene, all of the cars involved were going 35 miles per hour or less. (IMDb trivia.) One of the greatest lines ever came from this part (at least, I think it did, there was something involving a car where one guy said): "He drove his car off the roof." This isn't a verbatim quote, because it's not in IMDb's Memorable Quotes section, but the deadpan way the guy delivered it was hilarious.

05. So... who here was surprised that Nicky styled her hair exactly like Marie? *cough*

06. Pamela Landy kicks so much ass. So much.

07. The ending sequences were brilliant. I loved how they interspersed footage of Bourne floating in the water with news clips of Operation Black Brier's reveal, and then how at the very end they showed him kicking and swimming off. They never explain what he does after that, but it's unnecessary; the conclusion was excellent and a great way to finish the Bourne trilogy.

08. Overall, it was probably my favorite movie in the trilogy, though all of them are excellent and far above your average action movie. When they ditched the complicated storyline, it made it much easier to follow and therefore, much easier to enjoy the action. Jason Bourne's general awesomeness and his resourcefulness were great to watch; he basically just pwned everyone, and it wasn't over-exaggerated or as "look at me!" as the James Bond series. Honestly, Matt Damon should be James Bond. (No British accent? Shh!)

P.S. Woot, 100 reviews! I'm never reviewing music again, because I honestly couldn't stand doing that, but I think I'll continue to review books and movies. =)
