FORMAT: Movie
TITLE: The Departed
ACTORS: Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg
01. There was a shitload of swearing in this movie. Like, honestly, who the fuck swears that fucking much?
Lol, just kidding, but seriously, I didn't see the need for all of it. Every other word was fuck this and fuck that. I think that "fuck _____" was the only line Mark Wahlberg was given throughout the entire script.
02. Now, I have to say, I love the Dropkick Murphys song "Shipping Up To Boston," but it felt really out of context in the movie. It wasn't so much the scenes they played it in as the fact that all of the other music up until that point had been kind of muted, and then they would just randomly blast this song. I think it would have been much better used as the opening credits theme.
03. It was hard to say whose performance I liked more: Matt Damon's or Leonardo DiCaprio's. Both of them were good to watch, but I have to say they didn't have much chemistry together. I mean, obviously they're not in love with each other so they don't need that kind of chemistry, but as such big stars I would have thought that their scenes together would have been a little better - instead, it seems as though they were too overpowering.
04. Ah, cellphones.
05. I think the ending was the best part of the movie, but I really wish they had killed everyone off in a shorter time span. From what people had told me, I assumed that everyone died in the last five minutes of the movie, but it was more like the last fifteen and that kind of lessened the hilarity and the overall "wtf" of it. The elevator scene was pretty cool; Sullivan kills the guy who was working for Costello who killed the black guy who killed Costigan the fuck?
06. Mark Wahlberg FTW.
No, seriously. I hated him during the movie, but at the end he just totally OWNED everyone. I love how he retires, and then he waltzes right back into the movie and shoots Sullivan. It was kind of hilarious how Sullivan was just like, "Okay," and then Mark Wahlberg was like, "*pointy guns* BAM, FUCKER!"
Honestly, I feel like the only reason the movie was made was so everyone could die during the last fifteen minutes. Everything else in between was just kind of eh.
07. Overall, the acting was good, the plot was good, and the ending ROCKED, but other than that it didn't really stand out to me. I know it won the Oscar for Best Film and all, but there wasn't anything that made it special. (Again, other than the ending.) It was a slightly above average movie, true - nothing too great, yet okay enough to make it worth seeing again. (Or maybe just fast-forward to the last fifteen minutes.)

I think my favorite part was Mark Wahlberg completely owning Matt Damon at the end and Damon just being like, "Okay." :P
Is it sad that I thought the mindless shooting was the best part of an otherwise just okay movie?

Lol, I thought Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Matt Damon were pretty good actors... but yeah, I should definitely give The Italian Job a go. =)
