FORMAT: Movie
TITLE: Epic Movie
ACTORS: Kal Penn, Adam Campbell, Jennifer Coolidge

01. The whole DaVinci thing at the beginning was not funny at all. I smiled somewhat weakly when they showed the painting of Tom Hanks after the clue about his lame hair, but other than that it was really stupid. In general, the backstories of the orphans were kind of pointless--only Susan's story was remotely amusing. (For instance, Samuel Jackson saying, "Internet bloggers love when I say, 'I have had it with these goddamn snakes on this goddamn plane!'")

02. Willy Wonka was alright... the sewer thing was really stupid. I have to ask, why does every slapstick humor movie have to include something with urine or feces? It's really old and it's never funny--it's just crude and pointless.

On the other hand, the Fergalicious spoof was funny, mainly because the Fergalicious music video actually took place in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. It made me think the movie was almost clever.

03. The little "Kribbs" clip of Tumnus's home was amusing, up until P.Diddy showed up. Like so many other parts of this movie, that aspect was entirely pointless.

One part that was actually really funny (and I mean really funny, because it's so true) was "Kanye West" appearing on Tumnus's video and going, "=( The White Bitch doesn't care about black people." I did laugh out loud at that.

04. Whoever played Jack Sparrow had a great accent. The rap about him and his pirates was pretty funny, although they ruined it at the end by saying something about a cracker and then showing some guy's ass. I want to know why writers think it's so hilarious to show people's butts in comedies--it's not clever at all.

05. Aslo was a really pointless character, especially the scene where he was in bed with Lucy, Peter, and Susan. He came across as sleezy and his entire appearance was cringe-worthy.

06. Finally, one glaringly obvious omission--where was LOTR in all of this? That should have been the epic movie to make fun of. You can't get more epic than Tolkien. Yet for some reason, they put nothing from Middle-earth in Epic Movie, unless you count some guy who vaguely looked like Legolas. I have no idea what the directors were thinking.

07. Overall, it was a very stupid movie, but it was mercifully short and, to its credit, there were some funny parts--unfortunately few and far between. It's the kind of movie you'll chuckle faintly at once and then never want to see again. Honestly, don't bother watching it if you haven't enjoyed your fair share of epic movies, because otherwise you're just going to be sighing in annoyance the entire time.
