FORMAT: CD
ARTIST: Rihanna
TITLE: Good Girl Gone Bad

01. "Umbrella" is possibly one of the stupidest songs I've ever heard in my entire life. Despite this fact, it's unfortunately catchy. =/

02. "Don't Stop the Music" has a surprisingly electronic beat to it. It's not at all like the usual R&B instruments one hears. A good move for Rihanna--otherwise, her entire album would sound like one long track, just like the previous ones did.

03. A lot of people I know don't like "Shut Up and Drive," but I actually think it's a great track. It's upbeat, it's energetic, and she doesn't give us a simpering voice overload (*cough*UNFAITHFUL*cough*) as per usual.

04. When "Hate That I Love You" started, I actually flipped back to iTunes to see why it had suddenly shuffled onto another artist! For one thing, it began with a guy singing (and not a rapper like Jay-Z, but a guy who was singing fo realz)--for another, there was an acoustic guitar in the background! A very surprising move.

Note: Rihanna's voice seems to have improved. Wow.

05. Overall, I think this album is a lot better than her other ones. Her voice isn't as whiny as usual, and instead of relying on other artists to step in and make her tracks hits, she uses her own vocals. Another thing I liked was that she used beats that had a vibe other than traditional R&B going. Most of her songs, of course, aren't exactly lyrical genius, and some of them are just plain stupid, but I had no problems with the instruments or the voice behind them.
