FORMAT: Movie
TITLE: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
ACTORS: Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley

Note: Yeah, um, major spoilers here.

01. The beginning scene? OMG, sheer brilliance. I loved it. It totally set the mood for the rest of the movie. The singing was amazing. Yes, unrealistic, but wow, so good.

02. Will. Tied up. Wet. Need I say more?

03. Ugh, I can't stand Tia Dalma. I hate her accent, and she can't even speak proper English, so it throws everything off even more so. I could deal with the incorrect grammar, but when she throws in the "you-sah have-ah a-ah destineeeeeee" thing, I can't follow what she's doing. This is a problem, because she tends to have the lines that explain what's going on with the plot.

04. The Singapore scene was so cool! How awesome is that monkey? Yeah, pretty awesome. I wish I had a pet that could blow up a major city.

Btw, LOL at Pintel and Raggetti sneaking looks up Elizabeth's dress.

05. It's kind of frightening to get a glimpse inside Jack's mind... I wonder if this has been happening throughout the other two movies?

06. Poor Davy Jones! I never thought I'd say this, but he looked so sad and helpless when Beckett mentioned ordering him to kill his pet Kraken. =(

07. The scenery of the Black Pearl's trip to rescue Jack was so gorgeous! I loved that ice tunnel they went through, it was amazing. Haha, and then to see them rescue Jack and having him argue with Barbossa about the running of the ship... haha, the telescope battle was amusing.

08. Aw, Governor Swann dying... and double aw for Will comforting her. They make such a cute couple. But wow, that one moment where Will almost went wife-beater on her... a little bit intense for Disney, don't you think? :P

09. Poor Norrington. It was so cute how he was going to turn to the pirate's side in the end... and he finally got to kiss Elizabeth! Stupid Bootstrap Bill. >___<

10. Omg, I loved the line Gibbs had where they were talking about the nine pieces of eight... "It ended up being nine pieces of whatever we happened to have in our pockets at the time." LOL, brilliance. That entire scene was really neat. I liked seeing the different pirate lords. Keith Richards was kind of a random performance. The news talked about it so much that I thought he was going to have a lot more to do with the plot than he actually did. (Speaking of which, what was up with Sao Feng?) I didn't really mind that, though--considering there were way more important things to talk about.

11. The parlay scene was awesome. They did some great filming here; there was something so cool about Barbossa, Elizabeth, and Jack squaring off against Davy Jones, Beckett, and Will.

12. I thought it was neat how they tied Tia Dalma's earlier fascination with the crabs to how she transformed into a bazillion of the creatures, but I'm not entirely sure what exactly happened to her after the battle against Davy Jones. Did she go down and join him or something?

13. That was a pretty intense whirlpool. The fighting was good, and the marriage between Will and Elizabeth was hilarious. Will's death was probably some of the best acting that the group has ever done. Elizabeth, who normally looks at someone like she's mentally having sex with them, actually came across as genuine when she was crying for her husband. Bootstrap Bill was also on, and I loved how even Jack was upset that he had died.

14. OH. MY. GOD. ORLANDO BLOOM. BANDANA. ISFKLSJFKLDSGKLDJGKLDLKGJDKLGJDKLGJDKL. MAJOR PROPS TO THE WARDROBE DEPARTMENT.

*dies happy*

15. So, here's my interpretation of the whole Will/Davy Jones thing, and I'd like to know if I'm wrong or not. Basically, what I perceived to be the case was that Will was doomed to serve for ten years with his newly un-fish-ified crew. However, at the end of the ten years, as long as Elizabeth met up with him at the appointed time he would be able to pass on the leadership to someone else. I really hope I'm right, because otherwise the alternative ending [livejournal.com profile] elven_pirate_22 proposed (where he only gets to come ashore every ten years for the rest of his life) is so unhappy. =(

16. Beckett's death was pretty cool. But would someone tell me why the government, outnumbering the pirates by fifty to one or whatever, suddenly decided to give up just because their leader died? Wasn't there someone on another ship who had the capacity to give orders in the event that something happened to Beckett? They could have sailed right at the pirates, opened fire, and killed them all, but they didn't.

17. Wow, that scene with Will and Elizabeth on the beach... again, Disney was pushing quite the envelope there. For a moment, I actually thought Will was performing oral sex on Elizabeth. Did anyone else's mind fly down the gutter like that?

18. The only real problem I had with this movie was that Barbossa outsmarted Jack and got the Pearl for himself, but I suppose that's just a matter of preference. I liked how Jack outsmarted him back and took the map, which might have been supposed to imply that the crew decided to go look for him when they discovered that Barbossa didn't know what he was doing.

19. I loved the clip at the end of the credits. Their kid is kind of ugly, but I'm glad Will and Elizabeth finally got to be reunited. It would have been nice to find out what the others were doing (i.e. show a montage or something, with Will and Elizabeth at the end), yet this was good enough and it brought some closure to the story of their relationship.

20. Overall, this movie kicked Dead Man's Chest's ass and came pretty close to doing so to Curse of the Black Pearl. The only thing I would have to say that the first movie did better was wrapping up everything and giving Jack the Pearl. Other than that, there was such amazing action in At World's End that it literally blew everything else out of the water. (Not to mention, Orlando Bloom in a bandana? So, so, so, so hot!) I can't wait to see this movie again.

P.S. Look at my icon!

Actually, she turned into turtles.

And were you also almost crying when they cut out his heart?

I'm pretty sure it was crabs. Wikipedia seems to think so, too. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tia_Dalma) It would explain why her locket was crab-shaped and why they were all attracted to her in Davy Jones's locker.

I did have my glasses on! :P

Lol, I wasn't crying... because after his death, Will got to wear a bandana! =DDDDDD

I don't see it until tomorrow morning (yet I continue reading these spoilers for some reason), but from what I gather, the 'he only gets to come ashore every ten years part' is right and he is also immortal. That's the way I've heard it, anyhow. [livejournal.com profile] luvboromir24601 said this It tells why Davy Jones turned into an octopus man because Tia Dalma didn't show up for one day on land after the first ten years but it never suggests that the curse would have been broken if she showed up. Maybe in a deleted scene it did, as the writers are claiming on their website (and if you can't tell what happened in the movie and need them to clarify on their fucking website, then I call shoddy writing or editing), it did but it ain't in the movie and therefore I am not buying it. Will only gets to see his family once every ten years for a single day on land although there are loopholes to get through this if you ask me. Yes, it's kind of sad. But I like it better than a traditional happy Disney ending. It's about sacrifice. Not everything can be happy. And they are lucky they get to see each other at all since he could have just died right then and there.

and from what I've read she has really kept up on what the viewers and writers have been saying about the movie. Perhaps they will clarify it better when the dvd is released.

According to Terry Rossio...

But the basic requirement is that Will agrees captain the Flying Dutchmen (in return for what the film reveals) and that he can step on land but once every ten years, and that at any time, if he finds a love that is true (this is part of the original Flying Dutchman opera by the way) then his attachment to the ship is broken.

I found it here (http://imdb.com/title/tt0449088/board/nest/75101207) on IMDb, but the poster cited their information from here (http://www.wordplayer.com/forums/movies/index.cgi?read=98721). (The site is currently under maintenance until Monday, but it was up and running at the time of the post). [livejournal.com profile] xxflissxx also posted some information at her journal that Will, in fact, does break the curse.

I'll try to find a more reliable source for Rossio's quote, but in the meantime, I heard that there was a deleted scene that was supposed to explain all of this. I suppose we'll have to wait for the DVD to come out. =/

Lol, I read all the spoilers for AWE before watching it, also, but it really didn't lessen the effect of the movie. It was all around amazing. Have fun!

Norrington's death was definitely the most touching at first... but then I was like, "Crap, Will can't see his family for ten years. That sucks."

From: [identity profile] elven-minority.livejournal.com

To hell with Will! He doesn't have a heart anymore, it's not like he can FEEL the distance. Norrington is DEAD.

From: [identity profile] anolinde.livejournal.com

Yeah, and he's totally dead, so he can't feel anything. :P

From: [identity profile] padabee.livejournal.com

lol They made Tia's accent even worse in the german version - I understand it, but it sounds horrible. Still, I like her ;D.

From: [identity profile] anolinde.livejournal.com

Lol, I don't understand why they had to give her such a heavy accent. I mean, it's not as if we can't understand that she's supposed to be "exotic" or whatever. :P

From: [identity profile] xxflissxx.livejournal.com

Agree with everything you've said!!!!!! You can write reviews so much better than I can LOL! Plus your icon is brilliant hahaha!

From: [identity profile] anolinde.livejournal.com

Haha, thanks! I figured that now was an appropriate time to show off my Sparrington icon, even though I know a few people are rather mutinous about it... pun intended. :P

From: [identity profile] anolinde.livejournal.com

I hope you didn't go ahead and spoil yourself! (Unless you wanted to, of course.)

From: [identity profile] a4-anglomania.livejournal.com

haha, no it didnt spoil it. I only skimmed a few, so i didn't know about Will dying. O, btw i saw it today with my mom. NOOO I missed the end of the credits!!!! So do will and Elizabeth get together on dry land or something? And I so called they would have a kid. Also, their wedding blew all others out of the water. Literally. I loved the transaction between Elizabeth and Barbossa. "Barbossa, will you marry us?!" "I'm a little busy at the moment!"

From: [identity profile] a4-anglomania.livejournal.com

Wait, how do they live hapily ever after on land? what about that whole "Crew the seas forever" schpeal?

From: [identity profile] anolinde.livejournal.com

Nope, the reason Davy Jones had to do that was because his lover (Calypso) didn't meet him after the first ten years. Basically, in order to break the curse of having to "crew the seas forever," the captain's true love has to meet him on land after ten years. Since Elizabeth waited for him, the curse will be broken.

From: [identity profile] a4-anglomania.livejournal.com

OOOOOOOooooooooooooo Ok. YAY! Thats nice to know. Not only did she wait for him, she had what was on the verge of having sex with him in front of all the 9 year olds watching.

Omg, yes, I'm so glad Elizabeth finally got to lord over the other pirates. That was pretty hilarious.

=O The bandana thing didn't bother me one bit. ;)

Lol, I'm not sure if the multiple personalities were supposed to imply this, but I interpreted it as Jack being self-centered, which made them even funnier. Most people have an angel and a devil on their shoulders, but of course, Jack has to have himself. :P

Elizabeth, who normally looks at someone like she's mentally having sex with them,

OMG, that made me laugh for about five minutes straight. Because it's SO true. But funny :)

From: [identity profile] anolinde.livejournal.com

And it took me so long to figure out why she looked so odd, too...
