FORMAT: CD
ARTIST: The Fratellis
TITLE: Costello Music
01. The opening song, "Henrietta," is catchy, although I'm not too crazy about the word "cunt," which I can tell is going to be used on this album a lot. >__<
02. I love "Flathead." It was used on the iPod commercials, though I first heard it off this album--it's so energetic! (This might be TMI, but it's so awesome to dance to in the shower!)
03. The beginning to "For the Girl" is so annoying, and yet so addictive that it should be illegal.
04. This album definitely has an old-school feel to it... it's almost as if you should be hearing it as the background music to a documentary about the fifties/sixties, or something. This is especially true for songs like "Whistle For the Choir" (which even has the cheerful whistle going on), "Vince the Loveable Stoner," and "Baby Fratelli" (the cutest name for a song ever).
05. "Got Ma Nuts From a Hippie" is pretty hilarious. At first, you think they're referring to a mother (that's what I did, until I looked up the lyrics), but then you realize it's actually about a guy losing his virginity to a hippie. Mind you, that doesn't make it any less amusing.
06. Overall, this band sounds like Green Day on a sugar high. The result is a couple of highly contagious songs and an album that you end up bobbing your head all the way through. This normally isn't my type of music, but I really liked this CD and I thought it was an excellent debut.
