It is as I feared.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest? Not getting such good reviews.

The Boston Globe gave it 1 1/2 stars ("The dreaded curse of the sequels hits home with a vengeance in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest,' a noisy and lazy stopgap movie that goes absolutely nowhere and takes 2 1/2 hours to get there"), and according to RottenTomatoes, the rating on the TomatoMeter (it takes all of the available reviews, and averages them out) is only 61 percent.

Damn it. I knew this would happen. I knew it would be another washed up (no pun intended) sequel. =/

On the other hand, I saw some clips, and I'm glad to say that at least Captain Jack Sparrow's character is as good as ever.

Drink up me hearties, yo ho!

Well, if it's any consolation, in my experience, the second movie usually sucks, then the third in the series is better. With the exception of LOTR, lol.

I wouldn't let myself influence by reviews, the first one didn't get brilliant reviews all over either ;)

Psh, don't listen to movie critics, they're paid to be snarky and bitter and mean. And they usually fail to realize that some movies are just mean to be silly and fun, and not ground-breaking brilliant portrayals of the human condition.

Whatever, I'm still so! freaking!! excited!!! for Saturday!!!! (Which is when I'm going to see it). :D

second movies are almost always crap. third movies are better... anyway, troy got crappy reviews, too, so clearly the critics can be wrong. don't give up hope!

Lol, yes, LOTR was definitely free from that... imho, The Two Towers was totally the best. Sexy Rohirrim (read: EOMER) + Helm's Deep = I'm never leaving the LOTR fandom, thank you.

Hm... I dunno, I thought it did; our newspaper gave it four stars, heh. *prays [livejournal.com profile] mata090680 is right*

Hehe, if it means getting paid to be snarky, bitter, and mean, I'd love to be a movie critic. =D

I'm still excited for when I see it! My cousin's lucky--she gets to see it at a midnight showing. -_-

Yeah, wtf was up with Troy? That was, like, sex on a stick. Same with King Arthur--Sarmation knights getting sweaty and dirty all for our benefit? Sounds like a great movie to me!

I saw it a few hours ago and trust me, the critics must have been on crack when they wrote the reviews! :P

=D Yay! I don't care if it's draggy... Captain Jack Sparrow can take as much time as he needs, thank you very much.
