Today I was supposed to be studying for finals, so of course I wound up watching the pilot of Operation Overdrive instead.
OKAY I LIED OPERATION OVERDRIVE HAS THE WORST THEME SONG EVER. Yeah, Mystic Force ain't got nothing on this shit. I had completely forgotten about the rap part when I declared Mystic Force to be the worst of the theme songs, a comment I now wholeheartedly retract. Pretty much the only redeeming part of it is when they sing "Operation Overdrive!"
MACK IS SO EFFING ADORABLE OMG. I seriously want to squish this boy into a million pieces of fluff and bunnies and rainbows and penguins. So so so cute! And he's a bookworm! ♥ I'm so glad I love him, too, cause he's the Red Ranger and most of the episodes, I'm sure, will be about him. =P
Rose is cute, too! She reminds me of Alyssa, which is always a good thing.
Dax is awesomely dorky. ♥
Will seems pretty cool! Except I think the next episode is about him and of the "Ranger needs to learn the importance of teamwork" variety, so I'm not really looking forward to that. Hopefully we'll be able to move beyond the cocky exterior.
Ronny... Eh. The actress doesn't seem very good. That said, I'm looking forward to being able to distinguish her from Summer of RPM, because those two look very much alike and I keep confusing them when I watch Power Rangers fan vids on YouTube.
The villains could be entertaining. Loved the fight between the two brothers at the end; the accompanying music was great, too. They look pretty fierce, also.
The whole concept of Andrew Hartford being able to make a Power Ranger team with his own personal fortune is a pretty interesting one. I assume one has to be "pure of heart" or whatever to access the Morphing Grid and create new Rangers, so there's at least some way to ensure that other million/billionaires don't do the same purely for selfish gain, but it's still something worth discussing. Hopefully Andrew won't fall too much into the ~mentor~ role, and will mostly just be providing them with equipment and doing his own thing on the side, because I could see there being problems if he tries to get too involved.
Unfortunately, I've been spoiled a bit about Mack (please don't talk about it in the comments, though, because I've really only heard the basic outline and I don't want to be spoiled any further!); because of that, however, I was able to pick up on Spencer telling Andrew that he had recalibrated the gene thing "specifically" for Mack. Foreshadowing!
...And now I'm going to bed. XD
Actually, wait, P.S. does anyone know where I can find icons of Mack being adorable and cuddly?
