FORMAT: Movie
TITLE: Forrest Gump
ACTORS: Tom Hanks, Robin Wright Penn.

01. That was one pretty sweet feather.

02. I thought it was really cool how they spliced Forrest into the footage of all those historical moments, especially when they showed him meeting the presidents. I wonder how they managed to do that, considering he spoke to a couple of them.

03. The whole movie is pretty hilarious. It doesn't even come across like they're making fun of retarded people; that's what so great about it. You're laughing at what Forrest is saying, not at who he is. I think that was a really good accomplishment on the movie's part, because otherwise someone probably would have wound up suing them.

04. Jenny's story was so sad. =/ I was hoping for a happy ending for her, but obviously all of her drug use was going to catch up with her at the end. The romance between her and Forrest was so cute... and I loved how he bulldozed her father's house after her death.

05. I loved how he kept telling his life story to random people who happened to sit next to him on the bench. That was definitely the best part, narrative-wise... after he left the bench and the movie got into the present, rather than continue his past story, things sort of began to drag.

06. Aw, Bubba! His whole speech about shrimp while they were training in Vietnam was the best. Too bad he had to go, too.

07. Overall, some parts about the movie were a bit cheesy, but most of it was entertaining and clever. A lot of people seem to think it's overrated, yet I don't think that's the case at all. At the very least, the filmmakers deserve some serious props for splicing so much historical footage. Maybe that's not terribly complicated, but it was incredibly impressive and I still have no idea how they did it. And when the special effects are that good, it's a good movie.

I loved the splicing! Like when Forrest moons LBJ. Awesome. also when he was at the Watergate Hotel and saw the people looking for documents. I loved when he jumps off the shrimping boat to see Lt. Dan, and the boat keeps going. Good, good movie.
