FORMAT: CD
ARTIST: Supreme Beings of Leisure
TITLE: Divine Operating System
01. The first song, "Give Up," sounds like it was taken from an 80's Madonna album. It's upbeat and energetic--I'm bouncing around in my seat right now, lol. It does some very trippy things with computerized voices at the beginning and end. (I wish I knew what those were called!)
02. I love "Ghetto"! The lyrics are amazing:
There's nowhere to run, there's nowhere to hide
From what's in your mind, better let go
Will they crucify
And you justify
Never giving up your gun
I'd paste more, except that would be gratuitous. In any case, it's definitely one of the better tracks on this album!
03. "Catch Me" almost sounds like a pop version of Thievery Corporation's songs, which I suspect is this group's general style. It has the eclectic blend of background instruments, a mix of old-school (horns, etc) and new-school (digital beats), but unlike Thievery Corporation it has songs. And by songs, I mean something more than one person randomly saying the same thing over and over again.
04. There are some really nice instrumentals going on in "Get Away."
05. "Touch Me" is a pretty swanky song, I must say. It's another one you can't resist tapping your foot or nodding your head to; it also has a catchy bridge that you can't help singing along to.
06. Overall, I have to say, I like this group a lot. It's almost like Conjure One and Thievery Corporation crashed into each other and the resulting orgasm formed Supreme Beings of Leisure. *nods head*
