FORMAT: CD
ARTIST: Enigma
TITLE: MCMXC A.D.
01. LOL at how the person in "The Voice of Enigma" says, "Over the next hour we will take you on a journey" when the entire CD takes up half an hour. Now, that's what I call false advertising.
02. Despite being a ten minute song, which I normally hate, "Back To the Rivers of Belief: Way To Eternity" has some really nice instruments. There are also some vocals towards the end, and even though the guy is half-shouting they manage to fit with the track.
03. "Principles of Lust" has some very strange lyrics:
The principles of lust
Are easy to understand
Do what you feel
Feel until the end
...Um, okay, then. I'm also not digging the random panting that's going on in the background. The instruments here are probably the best out of the entire album, but unfortunately I can't say the same for the rest of the song.
04. "Sadeness, Pt. 1" (what the heck is sadeness and why is there no second part?) has the same exact instruments as "Principles of Lust," except for the random horn and flute. Way to be original, Enigma.
05. Overall, this album is basically the same as all of the other Enigma albums I've listened to so far. There are one or two okay songs, while the rest are all identical. The vocals are horrible and the instruments are completely unoriginal. I really do think there's something I'm missing here, because this is supposed to be an excellent group and some of their other stuff is great. =/ Oh well, maybe next time?
