FORMAT: CD
ARTIST: Maroon 5
TITLE: It Won't Be Soon Before Long
01. This is totally unrelated to any of their music, but damn, Maroon 5's leader singer is fine. He reminds me of Eric Bana. *le swoon*
02. "If I Never See Your Face Again" was an alright song to kick off the album, but I think "Makes Me Wonder" (with that awesome background) would have been a better choice.
03. "Wake Up Call" is a great song. It has excellent instruments, and I love the harmony (or is it melody?) of the chorus.
Wake up call
Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed
Don't you care about me anymore?
Don’t you care about me? I don't think so.
Six foot tall
Came without a warning so I had to shoot him dead
He won't come around here anymore
Haha, I think the second-to-last line is my favorite lyric in the entire album.
04. Is it just me, or does "Won't Go Home Without You" remind anyone of "She Will Be Loved"? I can't stand that song. >_<
05. I'm really not too crazy about "Goodnight Goodnight." It sounds a little pedophile-esque: I’m sorry, I did not mean/To hurt my little girl. *lifts eyebrow*
06. One thing I never noticed about Maroon 5 until I started looking at their lyrics was how just about every single song of theirs is about sex. I mean, check out the words for "Kiwi":
Sweet kiwi
Your juices dripping down my chin
So please, let me
Don’t stop it before it begins
So give it up, and don’t pretend
And spread your arms and legs across the bed
And when you shake, you won’t regret
The things I whisper in your ear
And so on and so forth throughout the rest of the album. I heard somewhere that Adam Levine, the lead singer, was obsessed with sex--is this true?
07. I'm not sure I liked this CD as much as I liked Songs About Jane. It seems like the instruments of the first album matched the lyrics more--i.e. they had a darker undertone. The music in this one takes a lighter turn (more pop-y), and it's definitely less memorable. I hope It Won't Be Soon Before Long improves on further listenings, because Songs About Jane was a great album.
